Game Tips

Run fur the Stuffing
This game is located in Town Square, in the Build-A-Bear Workshop.  Just click the little box on the floor to get started, or you can always just go directly there by using the Games menu.

General Game Instructions:
There are 3 modes:  easy, normal, and hard.  I usually play in Normal mode.

The goal of the game is to fill the white box before time runs out.  You do this by using your arrow keys to move the bear back and forth so that he can catch the falling items in his yellow box until it cannot hold any more items.  Then he can empty the items from the yellow box into the white box to fill it.  See the image below:

Run for the Stuffing

See the large white box in the lower right-hand corner?  That is the one you are trying to fill.  Right below it, it says "Items:  0/50."  That means that at this level, you need to fill the box with 50 items before the time runs out, and you currently have no items in the box.  The time you have is shown at the top center (where it says, "Time:  2:01).

Now look at the bear.  He is holding a yellow box with some items in it.  Below him, in the center of the page, it says "Box:  4/10."  What this means is that his box will currently hold up to 10 items, and so far he has only caught 4 of them.  Simply move him back and forth with the arrow keys to catch all the falling items.  When the yellow box gets full, he has to run to the white box and empty the contents.  When he does this, you will see that the number of items in the white box will increase.  When it reaches 50, you will pass the level!  Any items that fall to the floor will deduct from your total.  So while he is running to the white box to empty his yellow box, there may be a few items hit the floor.  So, for example, if he has 10 items in his yellow box, but 2 hit the floor by the time he gets to the white box, it will show that you have 8/50 items in the white box.  (10 items minus the 2 that fell to the floor leaves you with 8 total).

Just repeat the process until the white box is full.  Then you will reach a new level, and will have to get more items in the box before time runs out.

My Tips For This Game!
You do not have to have the yellow box right under the falling item.  It will go in as long as the bear himself is under it.

There are some special items that fall, and some are good and some are bad.  Avoid the glue (it slows you down), and the broken heart (it empties everything you have caught from your yellow box).  But always try to catch the regular heart - it makes it so your yellow box can hold more.  That means you have to make less trips to the white box.  That's very helpful, because you almost always miss some items while emptying the box.  Plus, if you have more items in your yellow box, when you get the 2x icon, it will help a whole lot more!  Always catch the 2x icon, because that doubles everything you have caught in the yellow box!  It will even double what you have beyond the box's normal capacity.  (So if you have 7/10 in the yellow box, it will give you 14/10, even though normally it won't let you hold 14 items).

The skates are supposed to be good, but I have found it difficult to control the bear because it makes him go so fast!  So practice with the skates on the easy level until you get used to using those.  If you get used to them, then they are helpful.  Also always try to catch the icons with numbers in them - those give you extra points.  There is one that gives you 5000 points, and one that gives you 10,000.

Sometimes, a Question Mark icon will fall.  It can be any one of the special items I have described above.  I usually try to catch it, because there are actually more good items than bad, so I think the chances are good that it will be something good.  There are only 2 bad icons:  the broken heart and the glue.  But there are 5 good ones:  the heart, the 2x, the skates, the 5000 bonus, and the 10,000 bonus.  The only time I do NOT catch the Question Mark is when I am running out of time, but see that I CAN beat the timer as long as I don't accidentally get glue or a broken heart.  Then I just do not risk it.

***Here is a game strategy you might experiment with once you have gotten comfortable with the early levels of the game:  I play in normal mode, and I find it quite easy to pass the 1st 2 levels in this mode.  So I can actually increase my overall score by prolonging these levels a bit.  Let's say you are on level 1.  You need 50 items to pass this level.  Now let's say that you have 40 items in the white box, so that you only need 10 more to pass the level.  Instead of waiting to empty your yellow box when it has 10 items, empty it when it has 9, IF you have time to do this.  This will increase your chance of getting a 5000 or 10000 point bonus icon.  These help your score tremendously!  You will get lots more bear bills if you get a lot of these.  You can also prolong the level by purposely catching a broken heart.  But remember only to do this if you are sure you can finish the level this way.

***
Here is a tip I have learned:  if you are close to the white box, and you see that there is glue and/or a broken heart falling, go ahead and empty your box, even if it is not full.  You don't want to catch those anyway, so while they are falling, you have time to go to the box without letting desired items fall - especially if you have the skates on!

***Try to pay attention to how many items are in your yellow box.  This way you will know when you have room for only 1 more item.  That way you can rush immediately to the white box after catching that last item it can hold.  Otherwise, you waste time by moving the bear in the wrong direction because you didn't realize your box was full.

***If your yellow box is empty, go ahead and catch the broken heart or the 2x.  They are ineffective in an empty box, but letting them fall decreases your score and the number of items in the white box.

Additional Information:
At the beginning of the levels, when there is nothing in the white box yet, you do not get penalized for items that fall.
It USED to be that your item count did not decrease when the glue, heart, broken heart, skates, 2x, or extra points fall to the ground.  However, this has changed.  Now EVERY item that falls, no matter what it is, decreases your score and item count.

Gone Fishing
This game is located in Paw Park.  Just click on the kiosk that says "Gone Fishing."  You must have a Fishing Pole to play this game.
You can purchase one at the Bear Stuff Store in Town Square.  It costs 500 bear bills, but you will earn this back once you have played the game a few times.

General Game Instructions
Stand close to the pond, or on the pier.  Then click on the Gone Fishing kiosk.  When it asks you "What do you want to do?," click "Fish."  Now hit "Cast."

When you click on "Cast" you will see an image on the bottom part of your screen of a bobber and a line, with little fish swimming by.  The bobber will begin to bob, then the line will pull either to the left or the right.  When it begins to pull, just click on the bobber, and you will catch something.  Then it will ask if you want to keep it.  I always click yes, even if it is not a fish.  Then you can cast again.  Your bag can hold 12 items.  When it gets full, then you sell your items.

IMPORTANT:
To sell your fish
(and other items):  Click on the "Gone Fishing" kiosk.  Now it will ask you what you want to do.  Click on "Cash in your fish."  Click each item.  Every time you click an item, it disappears.  That sells the item.  Once you have clicked every item, hit the red X up in the corner of the bag.  Then click on "Quit Fishing."  If you want to continue fishing, just click the kiosk again to start over.  DO NOT click on the red X at the bottom corner of the fishing game because you will not get any bear bills this way.  When you click that X, it says, "Are you ready to stop fishing for now?  Click Yes to automatically sell all your fish...."  But this does NOT work!  If you click yes, you will not get any bear bills.  So always click the Kiosk and sell each item individually.

My Tips For This Game!
See the image below:

Gone Fishing
In this image, the line has pulled to the left.  Notice where my arrow is.  I hold the arrow in that general area, and wait until the bobber comes to the arrow, and then I click.  For me, that is easier than trying to follow the bobber as it is moving and click.

I keep every item.  Even if an item is only worth 1 Bear Bill, you have spent the time to get that item, so why not keep it?  You can always continue fishing after you sell your 12 items, and get higher paying items then.  Don't assume that just because an item is not a fish, that it is worthless!  A rubber duck is worth 10 bear bills, which is actually more than many of the fish!

Here are all the items I have ever caught, and what each is worth.  They are listed from highest to lowest:

A Soggy Bag of Bear Bills:  this is somewhat rare, but very nice to get!  You usually receive a few hundred bear bills!
Piranha:  15
Pike:  13
Eel:  12
Rubber Duck:  10
Salmon:  10
Catfish:  10
Trout:  8
Bass:  7
Bluegill:  6
Perch:  5
Message in a Bottle:  5
Minnow:  2
Waterlogged Guitar:  2
Bucket:  2
Rusty Trumpet:  2
Tire:  1
Soggy Pie:  1
Wet Sock:  1
Old Boot:  1

If you do not let any fish get away, it takes about 2 minutes and 20 seconds from start to finish.  That is from the time it takes to click the "Gone Fishing" Kiosk to the time you have finished cashing in each fish.

I added up the amount I received for 3 games.  I got 115 bear bills from the 1st game, 66 from the 2nd, and 97 from the 3rd.  I'd have to play several more to come up with an accurate average.  But overall, I think the game is a decent way to get bear bills for the short amount of time it takes!
