(Mostly) Devotional Songs

All of these songs are sung a capella by me.   All songs are in mp3 format.  I don't always hit all the notes right, but I do sing with my heart.  ;-)  I recorded these on a $10 mic, so don't expect high quality sound.  Also, there was something wrong with the sound on my old computer where I recorded these, and you have to turn the volume up more than normal.

Give Us Clean Hands

Amazing Grace

The Darkest Hour is Just Before Dawn

My Song of Love  I wrote this one myself.  It is to God.  "Dance" in this song refers to living life in a blessed, joyful way.

St. Paul's Song  I wrote this song from what I thought might be St. Paul's perspective.

Lord, I want to be a Christian in my heart

Somewhere She's Sweet  I wrote this song.  It is about a girl who has lost her way, but it acknowledges that somewhere deep inside of her is still the desire to know God.  The "place beyond time, where poets rhyme" is a metaphor for that pure aspect of our souls that is near to God - that deep inner soul of ours that does not care about all this worldly stuff we worry about day to day, but wants only one thing - to bask in the light of the Lord.  It is God that inspires the poet, and only when one is near to God does the poet write truly good works, so that is the metaphor.

Wayfaring Stranger  I recorded this one before I realized I needed to stand further from the mic.  Sorry about the clunky noise in the beginning.  (The 2nd verse says, "..where God's redeemed, their vigils keep" - it took me years to figure out that it wasn't saying "where gods redeem..."  haha).

They Will Know We Are Christians by Our Love  I don't remember the actual tune to the whole thing, so I don't think I do it the way it is supposed to be sung, but here's my effort.  ;-)  I love this song, although I do not agree that only Christians are known by their love.  But it does remind us that the greatest evangelism is sincere compassion, and love should be a hallmark of the Christian life.
